For this reason the company has planned and developed a specific environmental policy, which it follows strictly and methodically.

Environmental Study
Fresh Gourmet has organized its production unit and the way it operates with great awareness and responsibility towards the environment and the people living in it. The company has carried out a special scientifically authenticated study on the controlled effects of the unit’s operation on the environment. Thanks to its equipment and the policy it follows, Fresh Gourmet has managed to restrict these effects to levels lower than those required by the law.
Waste management: Fresh Gourmet, a forerunner in environmental conservation, has provided for the way in which waste will be managed, so as to avoid additional harm to the already distressed environment. For this reason it has made an agreement with the Hellenic Recovery and Recycling Corporation SA, and has joined the system of collective alternative management.
Recycling: Fresh Gourmet has put into practice yet another innovation for Greek standards, as regards environmental conservation. More specifically, the company has organized the distribution of its meals under the guidance of the basic principles of recycling. Yet recycling at Fresh Gourmet is a daily practice that neither begins nor ends with distribution of its products. It is a process followed at all levels of operation, from the purchase of raw materials to the distribution and presentation of its products. The recycling programme at Fresh Gourmet begins with the purchase of raw materials when the company ensures products are supplied in environmentally friendly packaging and in bulk, so as to reduce the amount of waste.
Environmental awareness of personnel: As part of its personnel training programme, Fresh Gourmet runs special courses on environmental awareness. During these courses, the company’s employees receive specialized environmental training and specific directions concerning their «green responsibilities». These «green responsibilities» refer to the obligations and practices the employees must adopt during their daily work and aim at making them aware so that Fresh Gourmet’s products are produced with the least possible harm to the environment.
In addition, the environmental training for Fresh Gourmet’s employees seeks to offer them a more general awareness of the environment, in the hope that they will put these «green responsibilities» into practice in their daily lives outside the workplace.
The «Green Responsibilities» of Fresh Gourmet’s employees include:
- Taking care to turn off all electrical appliances and in general the combustion system, as well as the lights and air-conditioning units, if they are not in use.
- Careful use of the water consumed in their department.
- Ensuring the cleanliness of the utensils and appliances used, as well as their own personal cleanliness.
- Being aware of the noise level (music, use of waste, etc), especially during the hours of common quiet.
- Inspecting the quality of the materials used and implementing health regulations during their use.
- Correctly using cleaning materials and consumables.
Rational use of energy: We at Fresh Gourmet believe that the use of high-performance machinery contributes to a reduction in the company’s operational costs and mainly in better protecting the environment. For this reason we are careful to use hi-tech environmentally-friendly machinery and we also carry proper frequent maintenance, thus reducing our energy needs as losses are reduced to a minimum.
Rational use of water: Over the last few years the decrease in water reserves has become one of the biggest problems for world society and millions of people are actively showing their concern for the future of the planet, by avoiding using it unwisely. Fresh Gourmet is acutely aware of this problem that affects us all and responsibly uses Greece’s water resources in moderation. In this way it has managed to combine development with the protection of the natural environment.
However, despite the fact a great deal has been achieved in the field of environmental protection, Fresh Gourmet does not sit back and continues to work in order to offer its clients the quality they are used to without downgrading the quality of the environment in which we live.
